My Dyslexia Coach
Hello and Welcome
​Hi, I’m Teacher Leti, the heart behind My Dyslexia Coach. My journey began when my son started kindergarten at a local Elementary School.
Despite attending a learning center since 18 months old, something was terribly wrong. He hadn’t learned his letters or numbers, and in kindergarten, he failed every spelling test.

Things worsened in first grade when his teacher began calling him a "turtle" for being slow and even encouraged the other children to do the same. I knew I had to act. I pulled him out of that school and enrolled him in a parochial school, but I still didn’t have answers.
My Journey
Determined to understand what was happening, I searched high and low for a psychologist in Laredo to evaluate my son but obtaining an appointment was 6 months out. I ended up finding a learning center in San Antonio, Texas to evaluate him. We finally learned the truth: my son has dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD.

Already holding a master’s degree in education, I was deeply frustrated that I hadn’t been equipped to help my own child. When the team at Learning Foundations in San Antonio shared their reading and math programs and told me, “You can do it yourself,” I took it to heart. I became my son’s teacher and for six years I tutored him for 2-3 hours after school.
My son was my very first student. Everything I learned about dyslexia and teaching strategies started with him. Today, I’m incredibly proud to share that he will be graduating this May 2025, a testament to his resilience and our journey together. Even more touching is that he has expressed how proud he is of my work with My Dyslexia Coach, knowing it all started with him.

Through this venture, I offer families the tools, strategies, and encouragement I once desperately searched for. Dyslexia isn’t a limitation—it’s a different way of learning, and I’m here to help children and their families thrive, just like my son has.
